Mariana Boykova Igova was born in Sofia and now she is currently a third year student at the University of Sofia - “St. Kliment Ohridski”, specializing in Primary Pedagogic Studies in English.
Mariana started dancing when she was little, by dancing National Bulgarian Folk Dance. Later on, inspired by the graciousness of the dance, she decides to start Latin and Ballroom Dancing and goes on with it for three years. Meanwhile, she takes part in two amateur competitions winning Silver and Bronze Medals.
In 2004 Mariana gets introduced to Alfredo Torres and joins in his dance school, which puts a new start to her dance career - The Salsa!She advances very quickly in her classes and only a few months pass when she becomes a co-instructor at Alfredo Torres’ dance studio.During the same year, together with Dance Formation – Salsa Tropicana, Mariana takes part in the opening the 10th anniversary of the Art Festival “Apollonia” under the patronage of Georgi Parvanov - the President of the Bulgarian Republic. The event was broadcast on CNN, NBC and Euro News.
Mariana has taken part in many shows-performances, concerts, voluntary and VIP events. She was also a part of several National and International musical video clips and TV show programs. She was a part of the Alfredo Torres’ team, when they took part in the Bulgarian version of the TV show “StarAcademy” and carried out choreographies for the finals and the semi-finals of the show. Travelling along with the team throughout Bulgaria, Mariana carried out a series of dance programs at private parties, the guests of which were VIP people such as Simeon Sakskoburgotski, Patriarch Maxim and many more.Together with Alfredo Style Team, Mariana Igova takes part in a performance at the Annual Salsa Christmas Ball in 2005. Later on, Mariana appears on stage along with her dance partner Boris Karabashev and wins the prestigious second place at a national competition, which makes the couple Bulgarian vice-Champions!The same event takes place again in 2006, but this time the couple wins a gold medal and they become Bulgarian salsa Champions for 2006 in the proffessionals’ division! After that, again in 2006, the couple takes part in the qualifications for the World Salsa Championships and once again, Mariana and Boris win second place. By doing so they acquire the right to represent Bulgaria at the European Salsa Championships in the UK and get a personal invitation by Mr. Albert Torres to take part in the World Salsa Championships. A couple of months later, Mariana and Bobi take part in the TV show “Elegant” on a national television program - TV7 , where they give out Salsa, Merengue and Bachata lessons each week.
Mariana starts her solo career in 2006 by teaching and giving dance classes on her own.Later, in 2007, she opens her own Dance Studio called “Salsa La Vista” and she also founds her leadies’ styling team “Salsa la Vista Team” whose instructor and choreographer is Mariana herself. The team performed at almost all the Bulgarian salsa events and was also invited to take part in some foreign salsa festivals.
